Double Victory for Team CSC at Criterium International

March 31st, 2008 

Jens Voight (GER) won is 4th Criterium International as teammate Gustav Larsson (SWE) took second.  Larsson (right), the Swedish Time Trial National Champion, took 3rd place in Sunday’s time trial, catapulting him into second overall.  The 2008 edition marks the 5th year in a row that team CSC has won the French stage race.

Andy Potts Wins Ford Ironman 70.3 California on Zipp 808 wheels

Ford Ironman 70.3 World Champion Andy Potts (USA) nipped another Zipp athlete, Craig Alexander (AUS), for the win at Ford Ironman 70.3 California.  Potts was in the lead off of the bike and edged out Alexander in the run.  Zipp athlete David Thompson (USA) took fourth.

Miranda Carfrae (AUS), Michelle Jones (AUS), and Sam McGlone (CAN) all had top 5 finishes in the women's race on Zipp wheels.

Arvesen Wins GP E3 Harelbeke

 

March 30th, 2008

Team CSC's Kurt Asle-Arvesen and his Zipp wheels dominated the GP E3 Harelbeke.  Team CSC controlled the race over the 13 emphamis Flemish climbs, placing two riders in the top 10.  The next race for the team's classics riders is Ronde van Vlaanderen.  To read more about Arvesen's victory visit www.team-csc.com

Karsten Kroon wins Castilla y León Stage 2

Karsten Kroon (CSC) passed Thomas Dekker (Rabobank) coming round the wheel of his countryman to take the line by almost a bike length. Team Slipstream- Chipotle (also riding Zipp wheels) took over the lead in team classification for the 141.7km second stage from Segovia to Ávila.



Cancellara Wins Milan-San Remo!

March 22, 2008 

Team CSCs Fabian Cancellara won 99th running of Milan-San Remo by 4 seconds.  Fabian and his Zipp 808 wheels out rode an elite group of 12 or more riders to grab the victory.  The Swiss rider is on fire this spring, coming off of recent wins in Monte-Paschi and Tirreno-Adriatico.  Read the full story at VeloNews.

Happy Birthday Fabian!

Fabian Cancellara celebrated his 27th birthday in style with an overall win at the Tierreno-Adriatico in Italy. The time trial stage allowed the Swiss rider to capture the overall lead and the leader’s blue jersey. The seven-stage race served as a critical component in Fabian’s preparation for the spring classics. Congratulations to Fabian and Team CSC!

U.S.A. Olympic Hopefuls Double-Up in Miami

 March 17th, 2008

Zipp sponsored athletes and U.S.A. Olympic hopefuls Sarah Haskins (USA) and Matt Reed (USA) both won their respective races at last weekend's Miami International Triathlon.  Many top professionals filled the field for the race which featured a 1-km swim, 40-km bike, and 10-km run.  Haskins set the best time in all three disciplines with a total time of 1:58:12.4.  Reed, held off Zipp athlete Oscar Galindez (USA) by 8 seconds to take the win.

TeamType I’s Shawn Milne took second overall in the Tour de Taiwan. Milne, winner of last year’s race, took first on this year’s Stage 5 on his Orbea machine equipped with Zipp Wheels. Check out TeamType I’s blog for more details and photos.

Zipp athletes took first and second in the time trial at the 43rd Tirreno-Adriatico in Italy. 2-Time World Time Trial Champion Fabian Cancellara of Team CSC won the 26 kilometer time trial with a time of 33’41” riding a 900 disc rear wheel with an 808 front wheel . Team Slipstream Chipotle Powered by H30 rider David Zabriskie, riding a Sub-9 with Power Tap and a 1080 front, captured second, trailing Fabian by 22 seconds. With Cancellara’s time trial victory, he moves himself into first place on the general classification heading into the final 2 stages. Read more at cyclingnews.com

Shawn Milne wins stage in Tour de Taiwan

Milne riding for team Type1 on Zipp wheels and SRAM red won today’s (03/14) stage and sits in second overall at 7 seconds, see release below. Three stages remain. Milne was also the overall winner in last year's Taiwan Tour.

Zipp wheels win big in New Zealand

Winners in the recent 24th Bonita NZ triathlon benefited from their Zipp wheels in both the men’s and women’s events at Taupo. Cameron Brown riding a sub9 read disc and 808 front finished 6 minutes and some, well ahead of Belgian Frederik Van Lierde to win his 7th title.

Joanna Lawn (Zipp 404 + 808) hung tough to run past Australian Kate Bevilaqua (also riding Zipp wheels) with 5k to go after these two had run side by side for 10k. This was a record 6th consecutive win for Jo Lawn.

Kristin Armstrong (USA) Cervelo Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team took the lead in the NZ women’s tour also winning on Zipp wheels. Kristin won her second stage victory in the time trial race, finishing 10 seconds ahead of her team-mate Karin Thürig.
