Oscar Galindez wins 3rd Brazil Ironman title

Oscar took the lead 10km into the bike ride and never looked back, winning the Telecom Brazil Ironman by 8 minutes, the same lead he had built up by the end of the 2nd bike loop. The aero advantage from riding Zipp 909’s helped keep Oscar in good shape for the run and helped push him ahead 5 minutes on the 2nd loop. Sturla was passed by Colucci during the run, but neither could catch a rested Galindez.  Nina Kraft passed Griesbauer 10 km into the run and captured the woman’s Brazil Title by 6 minutes.

Zipp helps winners

Kurt Arvesen of CSC won the Giro d'Italia's 200km eighth stage with a masterful end sprint around Paolo Bettini (QuickStep). Arvesen, the lone CSC rider in a 22 man break, chose his moment with perfection and came off the wheel of Bettini to win over the line. Kurt was riding the new Zipp prototype laminate 404s.

Fort Lewis College, riding Zipp wheels, captured two national titles and claimed the  lead in the overall Division 1 standings. Winning both the Men's and Women's Division I Team Time Trial in style.

Andy Potts win at the Honolulu Triathlon helped him capture the USA Triathlon Elite National Championship. Potts,  finished the 1.5-kilometer (1-mile) swim, 40-kilometer (24.8-mile) bike and 10-kilometer (6.2 mile) run in 1 hour, 42 minutes, 27 seconds.  It was the first triathlon national title for Andy who was riding ZED8's.

Aerodynamics, power and money!

Where should I spend my limited funds to get the largest bang for the buck?.
- ZippCast28 explains why investing in aero-wheels can make a major difference to your performance, looks at the relative contribution of front vs. rear wheels and the importance of proper bike fit for comfort and power.

Will ceramics improve my performance?
- ZippCast29 examines the relative importance of bearings, the power savings, the costs and answers the question what you really get when you invest in ceramics where those bearings should best be located ( wheels, BB or derailleur pulley) and explains the advantages and power savings of true aero-wheels.

Aerobars, power, fit and performance
- ZippCast30 explores the role of aero-bars, gives the rationale for Zipp's Vuka bar line and looks at the trade-offs between fit, power and drag. Listen to Josh Poertner take the mystery out aerodynamics when looking at the bike system as a hositic unit.

Why do dimples work and what do they really deliver?
- ZippCast31 explicates the rationale behind dimples on discs, rims, hubs and tires. It's all about surface roughness, boundary layers, laminar flow, stalling angles, yaw and air movement. Dimples on hubs deliver 1-3 watts and dimples + Zipp's rim shapes help extend the yaw angle (from 11 to 15 degrees) at which riders still gain aero advantage.

Matty Reed wins 2007 St. Anthony's Triathlon

Zipp Athlete Matty Reed on the St. Anthony's Triathlon that was held April 27th - 29th.  Riding his 999 wheelset, Reed had more than a 2 minute lead off the bike and won, setting a new course record in the process.

This was a great season opener for Reed who is coming back from a virus that kept him from racing fully during the remainder of the 2006 season.  Reed finished the swim in 17:29, bike in 53:54, and run in 33:06 setting the course record with a final time of 1:46:10.  Congratulations Big Matty!
