24 July 2006: ZIPP SPEED WEAPONRY IS PROUD TO CONGRATULATE FLOYD LANDIS OF TEAM PHONAK
ZIPP Speed Weaponry is proud to congratulate Floyd Landis of team Phonak on his victory in the Tour de France.
Floyd Landis of Phonak overcame a bad leg, and possibly the worst day of riding in Tour history to pull an overall win out of the hat. First, he finished the Time Trial in 3rd place, a minute and 11 seconds faster than his Yellow Jersey competition. This was after a comeback ride in the mountains worthy of every good thing you could say about it...it was terrific! Then there was the ride into Paris, the City of Light, where the Yellow Jersey, Floyds Yellow Jersey, filled the afternoon up with light and happiness and good feelings.
ZIPP was happy to have been there all along. From supplying the ZIPP 404 and ZIPP 303 rims to Floyd and the Phonak teams, to supplying the great ZIPP 202 rims that Floyd used with the PowerTap hub to gage his performance and still keep the overall weight of his rig down to the limit, to finally providing the super light hub set to the ZIPP 999 that dropped the weight and made for a super aero package. Congratulations, Floyd and team Phonak, and here is to the future of the team!

21 July 2006: FLOYD LANDIS OF PHONAK HAS ANOTHER GREAT DAY ON THE MOUNTAINS!
|
In one of the great days of this or any Tour de France, Floyd Landis of Phonak exploded away on the first climb of the day, launching a day-long one-man epic that left every one shell shocked. Riding his ZIPP 202 PowerTap wheels, Floyd kept up a pace that was amazing in its power and scope. Landis road up the hills with power and control and descended like an eagle! |

|
Roughly 24 hours before Landis had fallen apart, but today he was ready to rock-and-roll! On the Col des Saisies Landis zoomed out of the already small peloton and road all the leaders off his ZIPP 202 PowerTap wheels. Hill after hill he road, until the Team CSC of Carlos Sastre organized a pursuit. It worked to save Carlos who finished second, but did not work to save the front place who lost all his lead except 12sec. In the end it was First place by 12sec. followed by Carlos Sastre of Team CSC over Floyd Landis of Phonak in third place 30sec. down. Beyond that….well, let’s say it wasn’t pretty.

18 July 2006: Busy day for CSC and Phonak
|

It was a busy day for CSC and Phonak in the Tour de France as the race made its way to the legendary climb of l'Alpe d'Huez. As the 15 escapees of the breakaway hit the base of the final climb, it quickly diminished. With less than 2km from the finish, Frank Schleck threw down the gauntlet and went on to win his first Tour de France stage.
Floyd Landis came across the line in 4th and put enough time into Oscar Pereiro to take back the yellow jersey. Team CSC increased their lead in the team competition to over 20 minutes. |
