Only the best - Zipp 300 crank set
The heart of the Zipp 300 crank set is an aerospace
composite process that makes the carbon fibers bond to our special light Alcoa
alloy as strongly as they bond to themselves. This aluminium preparation process is only available in
the USA,
sourced from just 3 aerospace suppliers and increases the bond strength 3X over
traditional methods.
The special bonding process allows Zipp to add carbon (for stiffness and
durability), without adding more weight, when compared to normal Al. Our crank set is
thus 60-80gm lighter than anything on the market. These crank sets have
achieved more than 3.5 million cycles at 300lbs without bondline cracks or
failure.

28 August 2006: CSC dominates Vuelta's opening stage!

My Zipp hub has play in it. How can I remove it?
The Zipp hub is different from most hubs in that it does not side load the bearings to remove play in the hub (think traditional cup and cone set-up). Our hub is designed such that the bearing race on the axle is aligned with the sealed bearing when the end caps on the axle are properly torqued.
Since the axle is not press fit into place, it will have some lateral movement when the wheel is unweighted. Once a rider's weight is added to the system, the bearing becomes loaded vertically and the play then disappears. By designing the hub this way, it is possible to extend bearing life and make a hub that will turn much smoother, leading to a faster wheel.

07 August 2006: Voigt wins second stage in the Deutschland Tour
“I’m broken, broken, broken…” said Jen Voigt of Team CSC after the finish of the stage in the Deutschland Tour. “But that wasn’t decisive in the fight for the overall victory.” With two stages left, Voigt won his second stage in the Deutschland Tour and increased his lead in the race. The powerful German looked to be struggling early on as other riders increased their lead riding away from Voigt, but he came back with 1km left and won the stage in dramatic fashion on his ZIPP wheels. He was two seconds clear and earned another 24 seconds bonus before tomorrows decisive Time Trial in Bad Sackingen. Congratulations, Jens!
