New for 2007 - as seen at Interbike
The shape of speed - No other company in the world puts as much time, energy, and force of will into optimizing the bicycle wheel for maximum speed. It’s a constant pursuit. An expectation that every year we’ll push the envelope that much farther. Deliver more speed, more performance, and more wins for our riders. Which explains why we’re also the only wheel company to own two aerodynamic rim shape patents, each optimized for a different application, that push well beyond the aerodynamic confines of other company’s traditional V-shaped carbon rims.
Zipp announced a new 343 wheel set, introduced the 420 track rim, 808 track wheel set, 606 Clydesdales and launched the ZEDTECH wheel customization program.

Why rim shape matters
Aerodynamic Boundary Layer Control or ABLC gives the rider an addition advantage, makes some of the air flow work for, rather than against you. Dimples designed to optimize the air flow around your wheel, attach laminar flow via a boundary layer, reducing turbulence and requiring less energy to power you forward.
At Zipp we take aerodynamics seriously, on discs, hubs, rims and in our aerobar we have designed products to speed you on your way. Patents and many weeks in various wind tunnels mean you reap the cumulative advantage of our attention to detail and incremental design improvements.
After you ride Zipp wheels, you will come to understand rim shape does truly matter - it makes for a faster ride with greater vibration dampening and improved road hugging ability. Give it a try.

Zipp wheels speed to victory
Zipp wheels have been hard at work bringing athletes to the podium. Dave Zabriskie won the USPRO TT on a 999 wheel set on 1st September at Greenville SC. (Photo credit Casey Gibson). Zabriskie finished with a time of 41:49, for an average of 28.53mph. Just ahead of Chris Baldwin who crashed near the end on a sharp turn.
Across the pond, Zipps helped CSC rider Martin Pedersen to the podium at the end of the Tour of Britian, winning his first two races as a professional rider. Team CSC won the team competition and Andy Schleck made the podium in London and where he took the mountain jersey.
