Team CSC - Saxo Bank scores multiple wins in 95th Tour de France
Team CSC-Saxo Bank enjoyed its best moment as a team in Sunday’s final stage into Paris with team captain Carlos Sastre winning the overall title of the 95th Tour de France.
Sastre, 33, charged into the yellow jersey with a dramatic stage victory atop Alpe d’Huez on Wednesday and fended off challenges in Saturday’s time trial to secure his first Tour crown of his career.
Joining Sastre on the podium was Andy Schleck, who won the best young rider’s white jersey as the top-ranked rider under 25 in a contest that’s usually a harbinger of future Tour success.
The entire Team CSC-Saxo Bank squad also enjoyed a sweet moment atop the Tour podium on the Champs Élysées after winning the prestigious best team honors in an apt prize for what was without a doubt the strongest and most consistent team in the race.
