USA Triathlon and Zipp Extend Partnership
Zipp Speed Weaponry will be arming USA Triathlon athletes with the fastest wheels in multisport after signing a partnership renewal agreement with USAT through 2012.
As a Silver Level Partner of USAT and the USAT Trade Team, Zipp will be providing wheels to the 11-member Trade Team and several National Team athletes while supporting the USAT Athlete Development Program.
“Zipp Speed Weaponry long ago set the standard by which all wheels are measured. Their tradition of quality innovation and seriously fast wheels make Zipp the best choice for our world class athletes and make us proud to continue our long standing relationship,” said USA Triathlon Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Tim Yount.
“Zipp and USAT have forged a partnership that has proven to be mutually beneficial,” said Andy Paskins, marketing manager at Zipp Speed Weaponry. “While achieving great results in races is an obvious benefit to both entities, Zipp has also benefited from the product performance feedback the coaches and athletes have provided. With this information we can continue to improve upon Zipp products in order to deliver triathletes at all levels the fastest bicycle components on Earth.”
About Zipp Speed Weaponry
Zipp Speed Weaponry was founded in 1988 with the sole mission of making athletes faster on their bikes. Over the course of the last 20 years, Zipp has done exactly that by drawing on its core competencies of design engineering, composites knowledge, and wind tunnel development. It is these competencies that have allowed Zipp to deliver a series of firsts in cycling and triathlon. From the first carbon disc wheel to the first carbon crank to the first wheel to achieve negative drag in the wind tunnel. These firsts have helped Zipp athletes to become champions in the toughest races in the world, on the fiercest roads in the world, from the cobbled roads of Belgium to the Queen K in Kona.
