Hushovd Wins Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Zipp 303s
Thor Hushovd won the first spring classic race of the season being given a perfect lead out by his team mates beating Kevyn Ista of Agritubel and Juan-Antonio Flecha of Rabobank.
Andreas Klier and Heinrich Haussler, who was part of a late two man break, placed 7th and 8th respectively.
Jean-Paul Van Poppel commented, "We had an excellent race starting with all the guys in the front, controlling as necessary. On the final climb, we had three riders where Haussler was able to get away and pick up the lead breakaway.
"Andreas caught the breakaway of Heinrich and Sebastian Langveld of Rabobank within the last 200 metres and provided the perfect leadout to Thor."
Thor Hushovd commented after his win, "When they attacked with 40 km to go, me and Andreas just sat in while the chase was on not having to work to hard which was perfect for us.
"It was too bad for Heinrich that he got caught with only 200 metres to go. Klier told me in the last 100 metres to take his wheel and we had a perfect lead up. I was a great win for me and for Cervélo TestTeam."
