Zipp 'Crossers Headline U.S. Worlds Team
Cyclocross worlds are coming up this weekend in St. Wendel, Germany, and the majority of the U.S. elite teams will be rolling on Zipp 303 Cyclocross wheelsets and Service Course SL bars, steams, and seatposts.
Headlining the women’s delegation is seven-time national champion Katie Compton, who showed superb form with a solo win at the World Cup finale in the Netherlands. In fact, the Planet Bike racer won all five World Cup races she entered this season, making her the favorite to take the rainbow jersey.
Fellow Zipp athletes joining Katie include last year’s top US worlds finisher, Cal Giant-Specialized’s Meredith Miller, along with Crank Brothers’ Amy Dombroski and Kaitlin Antonneau from Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com.
After finishing first, second, and fourth in the Greenware® USGP series – which Zipp was proud to sponsor – Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com teammates Jeremy Powers, Tim Johnson, and Jamey Driscoll all got the nod for St. Wendel. Over the last two weekends of World Cup action, the trio in green have been solid. Despite some untimely bobbles, TJ was in the thick of the action in both races, finishing 12th and 16th. Jeremy took the holeshot off the start line two weeks ago, and then rode well to come back from an early crash this past weekend. In the U23 race, Zipp will be represented by Cal Giant-Specialized rider Cody Kaiser.
All of the aforementioned athletes will be equipped with SRAM Red components. Compton, Dombroski, and the Cannondale prepared by Cyclocrossworld.com team rely on Avid Shorty Ultimates brakes.
We can’t wait to follow our crew this weekend. Feel free to give us your predictions on Twitter or Facebook. See our new Service Course video. Hup!
