Titles galore for Zipp athletes

Zipp athletes claimed seven national cycling titles as well as several other podium spots last weekend across Europe.

In Scotland, Mark Cavendish of the Omega Pharma – Quick-Step Cycling Team outsprinted his breakaway companions to win his first British Road Cycling Championship. The Manx Missile rode the versatile Zipp 404 Firecrest wheels on a day of climbing, breakaways and a crucial final sprint.

Cav’s title was one of three road race titles claimed aboard Zipp wheels. In addition to that, four national time trial titles were won with Zipp wheels, with an 808 Firecrest and Super-9 Disc as the popular combo.

In addition to those results, Chavanel placed second in the French Road Championship, Gerald Ciolek (MTN-Qhubeka) second in the German Road Championship and Gianni Meersman (Omega Pharma - Quick-Step) second in the Belgian Road Championship.

Meanwhile, Zipp-sponsored triathletes also fought their way onto the podium last weekend, with results including:

  • Ben Hoffman, paced by a race-best 4:30:47 bike split, won Ironman® Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, while setting a course record. T.J. Tollakson, third was third. Hoffman rode an 808 Firecrest and Super-9 wheel combo.
  • Terenzo Bozzone of New Zealand and won Ironman® 70.3 Mont-Tremblant in Quebec, Canada.
