Sport/discipline: Triathlon - 70.3, half ironman and Olympic distance non-drafting
About Amanda: From an early age Amanda was taught the importance of hard work and dedication - in athletics and life in general. She has always believed in giving her very best, and to never, ever give up. Her first year racing professionally was 2003, and her best year to date was 2011, which was very encouraging for her to see she still has her best performances within her. Most people don’t know that Amanda grew up on a horse farm, and to this day, riding is a passion of hers.
Hometown: Baltimore, Md.
Current residence: Boulder, Colo.
SRAM® products used: RED Shifters, derailleurs, cassette, brake calipers, and chain.
Zipp® products used: When riding my 700c bike, I LOVE the 808 Firecrest® clinchers; I also use the Sub-9 disc; and when it’s too windy for me, I rock the 404 Firecrests. Tangente™ Tubulars and Clinchers are a must for all my wheels! Tangente High Performance Cork Brake Pads work flawlessly, as do the 101 clinchers for training. However, when I ride the 650c rig, I can’t help but love my 840 tubular disc with a 404 front.
Favorite SRAM product and why: I love the SRAM Red Front Derailleur. Why? Because it’s capable of handling Big Meat (the 58-tooth chainring I ride on my 650c Kestrel). Not all derailleurs are created equal, and this one gets the job done in style!
Favorite Zipp product and why: My favorite Zipp product is definitely the 840 tubular disc. Many women are too timid to ride a disc, but it’s my preference. I have ridden that thing to much success in the most extreme conditions. Zipp disc = fast!
You’re stranded on a desert island and you have to choose one of each of the following:
One album? Madonna “Like a Virgin”
One candy? Big Hunk
One vice? Baltimore’s famous Berger Cookies!
Notable Race Results:
