Kristin Armstrong Nominated for Beijing

USA Cycling announced this week 21 of its 24 nominees to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, among them Kristin Armstrong from the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team. She is qualified in both the women’s road race and time trial. The 2008 Games will be Armstrong’s second Olympic appearance after competing already in the women’s road race in Athens where she took the 8th place.

Zipp wheels help CSC Saxo Bank win National Titles

SchleckKurt-Asle Arvesen won the Norwegian Road Race Championship, a 200 kilometer race in Bergen, which he won ahead of Stian Remme (Team Sparbanken) and Lars Petter Nordhaug (Joker Bianchi).

On Sunday Nicki Sørensen won the Danish National Championship for the second time in his career as he went solo during the final 30 kilometers of the tough course in Faaborg. Matti Breschel won the sprint in the chase group and thereby took the silver medal.

After a strong effort by Andy Schleck, big brother Fränk Schleck (see image)  won the Luxembourg Road Race Championship for the third time in his career.

Lars Bak  reclaimed the title as Danish National Time Trial Champion after having finished 55 seconds ahead of Frank Høj (Cofidis) in second place.

Schnider Second in Swiss Road Race Championships

Pascal SchniderIn the today’s Swiss Road Race Championships in Gansingen (Aargau), Pascale Schnider from the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team took the second place on the 6 x 15,5 km course behind the winner Jennifer Hohl. Emilie Aubry finnished in third place.

During the second last lap (approx. 25 km from the finish), eight riders attacked and opened a gap on the peloton, among these riders were the 23-year-old Pascale Schnider and her team-mate Patricia Schwager. At the end, Jennifer Hohl, who used the personnal strength of the Bilga Team in the outliner group, won her first national title in the senior female category.

Karin Thürig and Priska Doppmann finished on 10th and 11th position.

Thürig defends title

At the Swiss Time Trial Championships which took place in Messen (SUI), 35-year-old Karin Thürig from the Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team defended her National Time Trial Champion title on the 22,7 km course in a time of 30:49 min and an average of 44,182 km/h. Karin finnished 1:36 ahead riding an 808 / Zipp 900 combination with another Cevelo-Lifeforce athlete Priska Doppmann in third place. The team had 4 places in the top ten.
