On the road to London

No doubt about it, the road to London runs right through San Diego.

Great Britain’s Jonathan Brownlee showed he’ll be ready to fight for gold on home soil at this summer’s Olympics with a dominating performance Saturday to win the ITU World Triathlon San Diego. Brownlee was aggressive in the swim and the bike before pulling away on the run to win in 1 hour, 48 minutes, 46 seconds for the 1,500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run event. Brownlee’s Boardman frame was equipped with Zipp® 404 Firecrest®, Zipp Service Course SL stem and bars (bike shown in photos. Brownlee also was riding SRAM® RED – 2012 groupset on his way to victory.

In the women’s race Friday, Zipp-sponsored pro Laura Bennett placed third to land the final coveted spot on the U.S. women’s Olympic triathlon team. Laura placed fourth in in the 2008 Beijing Games. Laura rode aggressively on the bike along with Helen Jenkins of Great Britain and Erin Densham of Australia. Jenkins would win in a time of 1:58:21 with Bennett finishing third in 2:00:11. Laura was on her trusty 404 Firecrest wheels as she punched her ticket to London.
