Macca back in big way

No doubt, Macca is back. Just ask the gigantic crowd who witnessed the Australian triathlon superstar take an impressive victory at the ITU Long Distance World Championships in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.

Chris “Macca” McCormack made a serious statement that he’s on form as one of the world’s top long-course triathletes with a victory Sunday in the 4K swim, 120K bike, 30K run event. Macca covered the course in 5:29:47 with Spain’s Eneko Llanos taking second. Macca’s speed weapons of choice for the day were the Zipp® 808 Firecrest and Super-9 Disc. The performance solidifies Macca’s standing as one of the top favorites for Kona this fall.

Denmark’s Rasmus Henning also signaled that he’s one to watch with a victory this weekend at Ironman® 70.3 Calgary. Henning had the second fastest bike split on his way to a time of 3:51:02, 40 seconds ahead of Chris Legh of Australia. It was Henning’s third win of the season. Photo by Scott Fairchild
