Zipp Partners with Iconic Wildflower Experience Triathlon

Zipp is proud to announce a new multi-year agreement to serve as the Official Wheel Partner of the 2018 Wildflower Experience. Known as the “Woodstock of Triathlon,” Wildflower is a 3-day endurance sports festival – actually, an experience – like nothing else in multisport. This year, Wildflower brings together more than 5,000 athletes and 15,000 spectators from May 4-6 to Lake San Antonio in California’s beautiful Central Coast region.

“We are thrilled to provide support and products to athletes competing in the Wildflower Triathlon,” said Declan Doyle, Zipp Brand Manager. As an aero cycling gear pioneer, our roots run deep in the adventure-seeking, fringe-sport fun of 1980s and ‘90s triathlon. So, the idea of a bunch of people gathering for serious competition and fun is a return to our roots.”

Zipp will have a select number of Zipp Carbon Clinchers to provide neutral wheel support for athletes who have a puncture or other wheel issue. Zipp also will be on site with a full booth in the expo area to display their Firecrest and NSW wheels, including the revolutionary 454 and 858 NSWs as well their Vuka aerobar systems and other Zipp products. Experts will be on hand throughout the weekend to answer questions about Zipp technology.

“We are thrilled that Zipp will be on-site to support our athletes,” said Colleen Bousman, Wildflower Race Director. “The speed, reliably and stability provided by Zipp products are reasons why Wildflower's top pros and amateurs choose Zipp wheels over other brands.”

The Wildflower Experience goes far beyond competition on a challenging course. Participants enjoy a festival atmosphere with live music, craft beer, wine tasting, and campfires under the stars. And there’s plenty of racing, headlined by the legendary Wildflower Long Course Triathlon (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run). Wildflower also offers an Olympic Distance (1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run) as well as an Off Road Sprint Triathlon (.25 mile swim, 9.7 mile bike, 2 mile run) and On Road Sprint Triathlon (.25 swim, 20k bike, 5k run). Zipp’s reputation for excellence has made them the choice of many top athletes. Beyond triathlon, there are 5K and 10K runs, a trail run, a stand-up paddle board race, and yoga.
