Zipp athletes are ready to take on the world in Yorkshire. The UCI Road World Championships Sept. 21-29 brings the world’s best riders to a major hotbed for cycling, Great Britain.

Defending Elite Women’s Road Race champion Anna van der Breggen (Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team) of the Netherlands is a top threat to repeat. Past winners Chantal Blaak (the Netherlands) and Amalie Dideriksen (Denmark) also are looking to retake the rainbow jersey. Amazingly, Boels-Dolmans riders have won the past four Elite Women’s titles (van der Breggen, 2018; Blaak, 2017; Dideriksen, 2016; and Lizzie Armitstead Deignan, 2015) aboard Zipp wheels. CANYON//SRAM Racing is well represented with contenders including Lisa Klein (Germany) and Kasia Niewiadoma (Poland). Sisters Alice and Hannah Barnes also will be racing on home soil.

American Chloé Dygert Owen, who broke onto the international stage winning road and time trial world titles as a junior aboard Zipp in 2015, is on form after dominating the recent Colorado Classic.

Another young talent is Tom Pidcock (Team WIGGINS Le Col) of Great Britain. He’ll have extra motivation to capture the U23 title on home soil. He already captured the U23 cyclocross world title in Denmark this year. In the U23 time trial, Mikkel Bjerg (Hagens Berman Axeon) of Denmark will look to defend his title.

In the Elite Men’s race, Team KATUSHA ALPECIN Ruben Guerreiro of Portugal and Nils Politt of Germany have shown their strength recently with strong performances at the Vuelta a Espana and Tour of Britain respectively. Also, Alex Dowsett of Great Britain is a time trial specialist to keep an eye on.
